Technical Soil Services, June 15-16, 2004

This workshop was designed to bring together all Missouri Soil Scientists involved with technical soil services (people helping people use soils information).  The workshop was held at the NRCS State Office in Columbia, Missouri.

Discussion items included:

  • Soil Judging Contest-Recommendations for Changes.

  • Possible Update of a Productivity Index for Missouri.

  • Feedback and proposed changes for Introduction to Soils and Soil Survey training.

  • Documentation for On Site Evaluations (Ponds).

  • Status for posting data on the Soil Data Warehouse/Mart.

  • Role of the ARSS and Local Geodata Administrator.

  • Soil Data Viewer Reports-building units & definitions.

  • Terminology Changes-Moving from permeability to Ksat at the Field Office.

  • Documenting Phase I attribute changes for Field Offices.

  • Area Field Office Staff Using Current Soils Data? [HEL Determinations-frozen & appended HEL lists, Conservation Planning/Approved Systems (eFOTG & thunder sheets), and Program Application Participation in Quality Assurance Reviews]

  • CARES Soil Geography Site Update.

  • Flood letters/certification of flood hazard & soils data.
