NRCS Area NRI Coordination

In 2002, the Missouri NRCS soil survey program established resource soil scientist positions in each administrative area. In addition to providing a wide variety of technical soil services to their area field offices, the Area Resource Soil Scientist positions coordinate the annual NRI field office data collection effort and conduct quality assurance checks on the data. Coordination responsibilities also include working with the MLRA (Major Land Resource Area) Soil Survey Offices. NRI responsibilities carried out by the MLRA Soil Survey Offices will include supporting on-site data collection when initiated, and assisting with quality assurance evaluations on data collected by the field offices and the NRCS Central Remote Sensing Laboratory.
