Wildlife
Habitat Appraisal Guides and job sheets will be used to evaluate
existing wildlife habitat, complete the WHIP scoring worksheet, and plan
wildlife conservation practices. Missouri considers six priority habitats and
their associated species in the “Restoration of Priority Habitats” section of
the WHIP scoring worksheet. Details about the priority habitats and species are
in the list and map that follow:

Missouri has nine prairie focus areas identified
around the state that have supported Greater Prairie Chicken Leks and/or where
conservation grassland areas are located. WHIP applications with offered acres
within seven miles of the focus area boundary are eligible for a higher cost
share rate (See the “2006 Missouri WHIP Eligible Conservation Practices” link
