Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) Signup in ProgressCOLUMBIA, MO, February 12, 2004 – Missouri landowners interested in the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) should submit applications by April 2 to be eligible for the next round of funding. Roger Hansen, state conservationist with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), says landowners may submit EQIP applications at any time throughout the year. Applications received after April 2 will be considered when additional funding becomes available. Hansen says Missouri NRCS has had an overwhelming response from applicants. He says applications that plan the most environmental benefit will be most competitive. EQIP is a voluntary conservation program that promotes agricultural production and environmental quality. Through EQIP, farmers and ranchers receive financial and technical assistance to help install structural conservation practices and to implement management systems that promote conservation. Hansen advises people to go to their local USDA Service Centers to obtain detailed information about EQIP. More About EQIP in Missouri |
