Landowners May Sign Up for Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)

COLUMBIA, MO, November 14, 2002 – Missouri landowners interested in the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) are asked to go to their local USDA Service Centers to apply for program benefits or to obtain detailed information about EQIP.

EQIP is a voluntary conservation program that promotes agricultural production and environmental quality. Through EQIP, farmers and ranchers receive financial and technical assistance to help install structural conservation practices and to implement management systems that promote conservation.

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service administers EQIP, and will rank all applications. Projects will be approved based upon their score and available funding. Landowners who applied for EQIP before October 1 also need to contact their local NRCS offices to renew their applications.
