Three Missouri Watersheds Approved for Water Quality Initiative

A Water Quality Initiative committed to improving three impaired waterways in Missouri was announced today by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).  State Conservationist J.R. Flores said NRCS will manage the initiative by making approximately $701,000 available to Missouri farmers, ranches and forest landowners in the priority areas.

Missouri River Flood

Missouri NRCS Receives $3 Million for Missouri River Flood Damages

Missouri is receiving $3 million in Emergency Watershed Protection Program (EWP) funding to repair damages caused last summer by flooding of the Missouri River.  The money will help fund the applications for assistance in the 11 Missouri counties that received disaster declarations last fall.

Missouri Receives More Than $1 Million for Season High Tunnel Initiative Funding

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has allocated a nation-high $1,065,000 for distribution to the 2012 Seasonal High Tunnel Initiative in Missouri.

Mississippi River Flooding

$35 Million in Emergency Watershed Protection Program (EWP) Funding Made Available in Missouri

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced that Missouri will receive $35 million in Emergency Watershed Protection Program (EWP) funding, the third most of 25 states and Puerto Rico, in response to the April 2011 Mississippi River flooding of southeastern Missouri.
